Google: No Chrome OS tablet, but Android convergence coming

1 hr.

Speaking with TechRadar about the Chrome OS devices announced earlier this week, Google's VP of engineering Linus Upson dropped a few nuggets of information regarding the future of the company's operating systems. For one thing, there will be no Chrome OS tablet, so you can give up waiting on that. But he also indicated that Chrome and Android would see "more and more convergence."

What that means specifically he wouldn't say, but clearly there are advantages to both approaches. Chrome OS boots extremely quickly and is laser-focused on Web content. Android is highly customizable and features thousands of apps. But they don't intend to just hybridize the two, he says:

Microsoft demonstrated quite convincingly earlier this century that if you take one environment and jam it across all devices it wasn't going to work so now you see a lot more caution.??Apple doesn't try to smash the two together and we're not trying to do it, but in time there will be a seamless user experience across all the devices.

The main issue is that people just use phones and computers differently. You've got a trackpad on one, a touchscreen on the other. One goes in your pocket, another goes in your bag. One lets you speak into it comfortably, one lets you type into it comfortably.

And neither one is disappearing in the foreseeable future, so it makes sense to cater to both. But that doesn't mean they can't learn from each other; why not let Chrome OS run Android apps in little windows? Why not let Android's browser sync with Chrome OS and borrow its windowed look for multitasking?

There hasn't been much communication regarding the two platforms' relationship, and some see it as competitive. But Upson says it's more collaborative, though they have indeed had to mature at different rates. For one thing, the ARM chips that run Android phones weren't fast enough to run the full version of Chrome until just recently. So while Chromebooks won't be moving over from Intel processors just yet, Android devices will be getting more of a full Chrome experience.

We'll probably know more come late June, when Google has its I/O developer conference. Historically, new versions of software debut there, as well as indications about what's coming next. This year a new tablet is expected, and news on the next version of Android -- rumored to be called Jellybean.

Ode to melancholy, sad love songs and to finding 'Someone ...

I think that it?s safe to say that the biggest inspiration for music and song writing has been love, or lack thereof. I can?t live without my IPod, it helps me drown out the crazy in life, at work and on the train. I have to admit that I am a complete hopeless romantic. Because of this, my music collection boasts tons and tons of love songs. For some reason, however, it has been the heartbreak and longing for the ?lost love? songs that have been recently catching my attention. If anything else they have been making the wheels in my head spin. We have established in a previous blog, if ever so briefly, that I am over analytical.. it may be just that oh so very ?charming? part of my personality that drives me to write this blog.

I?have been?guilty of putting my IPod on shuffle in a fit of self pity and sadness, and visualizing every heartbreak song and how they ?totally fit? and are ?so me and whatshisname?. To be clear, I still love those songs. I love what they say, their vulnerability, rawness and the fact that I can really relate. That is, mind you, what music is supposed to be, is it not? I also find that many of these songs are written by lyrical geniuses. That being said, lately I?ve been remembering conversations that I?ve had with friends about such songs. Time, distance and life changes have also given me a different perspective on those ever so melancholy lyrics.

Why is it that we do that to ourselves? True, every relationship is different, and good or bad shapes you into who you are today. If nothing else, that is something good that each relationship we?ve been in or will be in brings to the table. But let?s be honest, most importantly to ourselves ? those relationships went down the toilet for a really good reason, or reasons. We may not have known what that reason was, but we do now (if not, I hope you will very soon find out..). Sometimes the other person no matter how ?good? of a person they are/where, simply were not the right person for you. Their values, ideas, likes and dislikes, personalities, goals and priorities were in an entirely different world from ours. Or, the other person simply sucked.? They brought out the worst in you, were disloyal, deceitful, selfish, shallow, possessive.. jealous. Other relationships, for many complicated reasons are simply bad for you.. unhealthy. If your ex was the first kind of person, you may have come to realize, or will, that the dissolution of your relationship was the best thing that could?ve happened to the both of you.? Had you stayed with this person, it is very likely you wouldn?t have been happy and you would have made them miserable as well, and vise versa. Now you are free to continue to grow as an individual and find someone who is so much better suited for you, someone who will truly compliment you and bring genuine happiness to your life.. If you already have, congratulations. If your situation was the latter, you dodged a bullet. I congratulate you for letting go (and yes possibly even being let go) of a toxic and unhealthy relationship. You will find something better, if you have not done so already. It?s easy to forget the bad memories of a relationship and safeguard only the good. So, how?s this for a challenge ? before getting all melancholy, misty eyed and before the flashbacks of how ?great? your ex was begin and before you start to think ?oh how I miss those times?? remember why you are no longer with this person. Acknowledge and accept it. I?m all for taking a trip down memory lane, but remember that too much energy spent on your past might keep you from seeing your future or from appreciating your present.

Instead of longing and pining for what used to be or what could?ve been maybe we should look at what is, what will be. Isn?t the point of it all, to learn and grow? Why do we insist on holding on to those feelings even if it?s ever so unconsciously done? The thoughts, the melancholy, the tears give us away. What a waste. Shouldn?t we be open (if not searching) for something greater, something so much better?? I have made a personal resolution. Whether this resolution is one that currently applies or will apply one day is something I choose not to discuss, I think that throwing out a little mystery in the blogosphere is a good thing =), but for sake of argument, I will state it in present tense. ?(If you find yourself in the least bit inspired or able to relate, I invite you to do the same thing- if this doesn?t apply to you yet, be sure to remind yourself to say it when it does)? ..

I will continue to sing along to those sad songs, and they may even continue to remind me of you and how I once felt, but you are not The One That Got Away. I will not hold on to some unrealistic idea of who you were, of who we were. I do not want to find Someone Like You because I do not want to remember. I am happy with who I am, who I have become because you are now in my past. Because I look at my present.. at my future and how amazing it is and will be because he is absolutely nothing like you ?

The fancy optics that allow us to use glass to see far have existed forever. Pirates! Magellan! Ansel Adams! Edward Weston!-they've all made use of this wonderful trick. These binoculars, though, represent an astounding EVOLUTION. Your family vacation will never be the same. Remember when your stupid binoculars couldn't record what you were seeing through the lenses? That was foolishness. Now you can record 30 seconds of your 8x magnified vision. Sure you can do that with a camera, too, but we believe you're not cynical. You recognize progress when you see it. -MA More »

PM's former aide charged with perjury

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister David Cameron's former spokesman was charged with perjury on Wednesday, after denying in court any knowledge of widespread phone hacking by reporters at Rupert Murdoch's News of the World.

The charges against Andy Coulson, a former editor of the tabloid weekly, damages Cameron because it calls into question his judgment in employing a man so closely linked to the paper which was under suspicion of obtaining stories by illegal means.

Scottish police detained Coulson at his home in London early on Wednesday and drove him to Glasgow for hours of questioning before charging him.

Prosecutors said his arrest followed his appearance before the High Court in Glasgow in 2010 over a News of the World story published when he was editor.

Coulson, Cameron's communications director from 2007 to January 2011, told the court he had no knowledge of illegal activities by reporters while he was the paper's editor. He was arrested last July by police investigating phone hacking and bribery at the News of the World.

Perjury can in theory result in a life sentence, but sentences of a couple of years are more typical, a spokesman for the Scottish government justice department said.

"This simply reinforces the questions that are hanging over the prime minister about his judgment in appointing Andy Coulson in the first place," said Ivor Gaber, professor of political journalism at City University in London.

"We now know that lots of people warned Cameron that this might not be an appropriate move," he added.

Coulson is the second ex-editor of the News of the World to be charged with a crime this month, embarrassing Cameron. Rebekah Brooks, a personal friend of the prime minister who became a senior Murdoch executive, was charged on May 15 with interfering with the police investigation into the hacking scandal.

The charges hand valuable political ammunition to Cameron's opponents, at a time when the close ties between leaders of the current and last governments and Murdoch's lieutenants are being exposed at an inquiry into collusion between the press, politicians and the police.

Opposition Labour leader Ed Miliband, who has repeatedly attacked Cameron over his ties to Murdoch, has called Coulson's appointment an appalling error of judgment.

A current spokesman for Cameron and a lawyer for Coulson declined to comment.

PHONE HACKING

Coulson resigned as News of the World editor when his royal correspondent and a private investigator were jailed for hacking into phones in 2007. He denied any knowledge of the practice but said he took ultimate responsibility for the crime.

Months later he went to work for Cameron, first in opposition and then in government, helping to craft Cameron's media strategy.

But when police reopened the probe into phone hacking, he was forced to stand down as it became clear that the practice had been widespread at the paper under his leadership, although he maintained he knew nothing about such activities.

Coulson was called to the Scottish court in 2010 to answer questions about a front-page News of the World story about a Scottish socialist politician, Tommy Sheridan, who the paper accused of visiting a swingers' club.

"I don't accept there was a culture of phone hacking at the News of the World," Coulson told the court when questioned about the story.

Sheridan won a defamation action against the paper in 2006 but was found guilty of perjury in the 2010 trial and jailed for three years.

The hacking scandal proved hugely costly for Murdoch, who closed the 168-year-old News of the World in July 2011 after it emerged that reporters had hacked into a murdered schoolgirl's phone, causing a public outcry.

Murdoch paid off a string of people who brought claims against his News Corp over phone hacking, settling cases before they went to trial. News Corp took a charge of $63 million this month for costs related to the scandal.

More seriously, it was forced to abandon its biggest ever takeover bid, a $12 billion bid to buy the 61 percent of lucrative pay-TV group BSkyB it did not already own.

A judicial inquiry sparked by the hacking affair has also widened to examine the government's own conduct as it weighed whether to approve the deal, with one minister facing opposition calls to quit after evidence showed an aide had leaked sensitive information to News Corp during the takeover process.

On Wednesday another minister told the inquiry he had been told his Liberal Democrats, the junior party in the government coalition, would be "done over" in Murdoch's British papers if he made the wrong decision over the BSkyB bid.

Business Secretary Vince Cable had been in charge of weighing whether the deal should go ahead, until two undercover reporters for a rival newspaper recorded him as saying he had "declared war" on Murdoch over the bid. He said on Wednesday that he had used such strong language because he had been angered by News Corp's behaviour.

"I had heard directly and indirectly from colleagues that there had been veiled threats that if I made the wrong decision from their point of view, my party would be, I think somebody used the phrase, 'done over', in the News International press," he said. "I took those things seriously, I was very concerned."

A News Corp lawyer told the inquiry it was difficult for the company to respond to the allegation because Cable failed to give any concrete details about who had said or done what.

Cameron is due to appear before the inquiry in early June.

Home Improvement 101: Popular Types of Skylights

If you're thinking of improving the appearance and interior quality of your home but don't have the budget to do so, installing a skylight can be a viable solution. Skylights are special types of windows built into the roof of the house. They allow natural light to enter the house directly, and can be strategically installed in the attic, bathroom, or in the bedroom.

Some people think skylights are for adornment purposes only, but it offers more than that. In fact, skylight installation is attributed to living green. A skylight gives you the privilege of experiencing nature at its finest without compromising or exploiting resources, as it provides up to 30 percent of natural light compared to vertical or rolling windows that utilizes electricity to function normally.

In addition, skylights can reduce your energy bills as it replaces the need for electric lighting during daytime. Skylights also provide proper ventilation and shade during the summer and adequate insulation in winter, eliminating the use of gas or electric heat. If you want to help preserve the environment, here are some of the popular skylights you might want to install in your home:

Fixed Skylight -- This type of skylight do not open. It's installed merely to provide additional light in dark spaces of the home. Fixed skylights can be strategically installed in stairwells, attics, or other dingy spaces. This is one of the most installed skylights in residential houses as it is flexible and doesn't require constant maintenance.

Tubular Skylights -- This is the newest form of skylight that is being sold in the market today. Tubular skylights are small and circular in shape that is strategically installed by a roof repair Manchester NH specialist in small rooms, closets and hallways. A typical tubular skylight would measure 10" to 14" in diameter to provide just enough ventilation and natural lighting.

Ventilating Skylight -- As the name suggests, ventilating skylights provide adequate ventilation in certain parts of the home where moisture usually accumulates (attic, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen). This type of skylight usually benefits the indoor air quality of the home by removing excess moisture and draftiness. Moreover, ventilating skylights installed by roofers manchester has can either be opened manually or electronically by motorized hand cranks.

Polygon Skylight -- This type of skylight is more expensive compared to its simpler models as it is highly aesthetically impressive. The installation of a polygon skylight by roofers manchester residents trust is crafted artfully to create a crest rising above the roof (with acrylic or glass polygons). Location is key to sting of summer gas prices

In February, few could have guessed that a brief fire at a refinery in Cherry Point, Wash., would have a more dramatic effect on U.S. gasoline prices than the threat of war in the Middle East or a historic boom in domestic oil output.

Yet three months later, with the BP plant barely back in action, West Coast motorists are paying a record premium for their gasoline relative to the rest of the country, even as sinking global oil prices curb costs at the pump.

In California, drivers are ponying up 55 cents a gallon more than motorists in neighboring Arizona.
The historically wide discrepancy is driven by a combination of factors specific to the West Coast: higher crude oil costs; California's ultra-clean gasoline specifications; the absence of alternatives; and the second-highest tax rate in the nation.

But it also highlights the peculiarities of the U.S. gasoline market at a time of unprecedented change in the country's oil flows. The rise of ethanol, the discovery of North Dakota shale oil, the collapse of the East Coast refining sector and the lack of pipeline capacity to adjust to these changes have roiled traders -- but brought few changes to the usual disparities in gasoline prices from one state to the next.

As U.S. drivers hit the highway this Memorial Day weekend, they will find that a years-long glut of Midwest crude is failing to generate cut-price motor fuel in the heartland; months of angst over shut-down refineries on the East Coast have failed to translate into a spike in local prices.

Even so, the economic burden of near $4-a-gallon gasoline is not evenly shared. The West Coast is bearing more than its fair share of the pain while refiners near the Rockies region gorge on cheap, local crude, yielding a glut of inexpensive fuel.

In an election year when the finger-pointing for high energy costs has started early and votes from so-called swing states will hold the limelight, pundits on all sides of the energy issue are sure to seize the subject.

About 30.7 million people will drive 50 miles or more away from home between May 24 and 28, travel group AAA forecast last week, a slightly more than 1 percent rise from a year earlier. The government projects that U.S. summer gasoline prices will average $3.79 a gallon, up 8 cents from last year.

The push and pull of increasingly disparate prices from one state to the next may make it even more difficult to gauge the impact on consumption in the United States, whose gasoline demand accounts for a tenth of the world's oil use.

At 8.63 million barrels per day, gasoline demand last week showed its weakest level for May since 2003, according to the latest data from the Department of Energy.

"The overall tone in the gasoline market is that we've already reached the highest point and prices will continue to drop," said Ben Brockwell, director of data, pricing & information services with Oil Price Information Service (OPIS).

"That's making people wonder if we're going to see any kind of demand rebound this summer," he added.

Here are some snapshots of the market dynamics influencing prices in key U.S. regions:

West Coast: Energy island
Had the Cherry Point blaze started in any of the refineries that flank the Houston Ship Channel or the Louisiana coast, its effects would have been short-lived. Retail prices rarely budge on account of outages in the Gulf Coast, which has produced a surplus of refined fuels for at least two years and is home to more than 40 percent of U.S. refining capacity.

But California, home to the nation's largest refining industry behind Texas and Louisiana, has little spare capacity and no readily available alternative supplies.

Few refiners in the world can produce the California Reformulated Gasoline Blendstock for Oxygenate Blending (CARBOB). Even if they could, there are no fuel pipelines from the Rocky Mountains or the Midwest to the coast, and tanker deliveries from Asia or the Gulf Coast take weeks.

"California refiners are required to make the most expensive type of gasoline in America, in fact, in the planet, with those specifications," said Charles Drevna, president of American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers.

"Given their crude slate, they've made themselves into an island," he added.

California, the world's ninth-largest economy, also levies a steep 69-cent tax per gallon on fuel sales, second only to New York, according to the American Petroleum Institute.

Its refineries depend increasingly on pricier crude from South America and the Middle East, as Alaskan output has declined to its lowest in at least 30 years.

Even before Cherry Point, the region was bracing for tighter gasoline supplies.

"There was already an expectation that the spring turnaround season would be higher than normal due to planned events. The addition of the unplanned outage at BP Cherry Point really tilted the scales," said David Elpers, analyst at energy research firm IIR Energy.

About 7.3 percent or some 224,000 barrels per day of West Coast refining capacity will be offline in the second quarter, much more than the usual 5 percent outage rate, according to IIR Energy data and projections.

West Coast gasoline stocks have dropped to their lowest on record for May, just before the peak-use driving season starts, weekly government data released on Wednesday showed.

At $4.33 a gallon on Wednesday, California had the most expensive retail gasoline among the lower 48 states, data from AAA, the travel group, showed. Overall West Coast gasoline prices last week were 61 cents above the national average, the biggest gap on record, according to government data.

South Carolina offered the cheapest gasoline in the country at $3.34 a gallon.

Midwest: Trappted crude
About two-thirds of the pump price of gasoline is tied to crude oil costs, according to the Department of Energy. Another 15 percent covers refining margins, 11 percent is state taxes, and the remaining 8 percent goes to transportation costs.

So it is natural to expect cheaper gasoline in the Midwest, where a glut of crude from Canadian sands and U.S. shale outposts sits trapped awaiting new pipelines.

That surplus caused a growing glut to develop at the Cushing, Oklahoma oil storage hub, the southernmost point to which a producer can easily ship excess oil and the delivery point for the U.S. crude futures contract. A pipeline that began pumping last weekend will ultimately help ease that oversupply.

As a result, a record gap has opened between U.S. benchmark crude and pricier European Brent, as wide as $28 a barrel in October last year.

This has failed to translate into bargains at the pump for Midwest drivers for one reason -- no matter how cheap the crude is, local refiners still can't make enough gasoline.

Midwest motorists consume about 13 percent more gasoline than the region's refineries produce. So, gas stations pull gallons up the Magellan, Enterprise and Explorer pipelines from the Gulf Coast hub, illustrating an immutable law of commodity markets: it's the marginal barrel (or gallon or bushel) that determines the final price.

Too many barrels and prices can crash; too few and consumers are forced to pay up across the board to get access to the last drop. Transit through the main pipelines alone can add as much as 4 cents a gallon, according to Midwest traders.

"It's always that last barrel in that dictates the price at the pump. You still need to attract imports of gasoline from the Gulf Coast and that means your gasoline price has to be as high as or higher than it is in the Gulf Coast," said Jan Stuart, head of energy research at Credit Suisse.

"I think most of the difference in the crude cost accrues to the refiner and not to the consumer," he added.
While doing little for the nation's drivers, the surge in crude output has made big winners out of Midwest refiners, who paid about $97 per barrel for the crude they processed in February, 9.45 percent lower than the national average, according to data from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Refiners are sucking up the discount. Marathon Petroleum , the largest in the Midwest, saw its 2011 net income surge nearly four-fold to $2.39 billion.

Profit margins have since ballooned to more than $31 a barrel as of last week, according to Credit Suisse, and yet gas stations in Illinois sold the ninth most expensive gasoline in the United States on Wednesday. Other Midwest states hovered in the mid-ranges in terms of costs at the pump.

On average, retail prices of regular gasoline in the Midwest -- known as the PADD II region -- were only 2.4 percent lower than the national average in the week ending Monday, government data showed.

Rocky Mountains: Big winners. briefly
If California is an island, the Rocky Mountain states are a cul-de-sac, benefiting from an occasional surplus of crude and fuel supplies with nowhere else to go.

Unlike Gulf Coast refiners, which can export record volumes of gasoline as well as shipping it into the Midwest, refiners in the Rockies produce gasoline solely for regional consumption. Such localized output, and the region's strategic location at the confluence point of five major fuel pipelines, has given drivers from Denver to Cheyenne relief at the pump.

Rockies gasoline prices in February and early March fell to a record 57-cent discount to the rest of the country as cheap discounts in Canadian crude coincided with active refinery runs. It helps that Wyoming has the nation's second-lowest tax rate at 32.4 cents a gallon; only Alaska's is lower.

The surge in production from Canada and North Dakota has also given Rockies refiners enough reason to run full force. On average, they paid the least amount for their crude in February at $92.36 a barrel, Energy Department data shows.

Only about 7,000 bpd of refining capacity in the Rockies was offline in the first quarter, a third as much as usual, data from IIR Energy shows. But second-quarter outages will be more than the five-year average, the data shows, helping explain why retail gasoline prices have quickly returned to average levels.

East Coast: Blues
As the mid-continent refining industry booms, disaster has struck on the East Coast, dramatically reducing supplies.

Amid rising global competition and falling local demand, more than 2.1 million barrels per day of refining capacity on the Atlantic Basin has either been shut or is at risk of closure, a record culling of excess capacity that has fueled fears of a potential summer shortage of gasoline.

The alarms have sounded in the White House, where President Barack Obama is fighting attacks over high fuel prices as he seeks reelection.

Delta Air Lines' surprise deal to buy an endangered Pennsylvania refinery aside, the outlook is grim for U.S. East Coast refiners, which lack easy access to cheap U.S. oil and are having to buy costlier North Sea and West African crude. Even the airline's new plant will not be revived in time for summer.

Despite grave concerns over supply, however, New York and Pennsylvania gasoline prices are yet to break through the roof. With the exception of New York, which has the nation's largest taxes on sales at 69.6 cents a gallon, gasoline prices have stayed below $4 a gallon in East Coast states.

East Coast gasoline prices briefly reached a record 22-cent premium to the rest of the country in late February, due in part to the slump in the Rocky Mountains -- but have since reversed course to a discount against the national average.

The reason? Plentiful alternatives and the advantage of being the trading hub for U.S. fuels.

"There's a good deal of imports and refining capacity in Canada that supplies the East Coast and the futures market there promotes inventory building," said Philip K. Verleger, an oil markets analyst.

Futures contracts for reformulated gasoline traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange stipulate sellers will deliver gasoline barrels at the New York Harbor.

East Coast drivers can also thank Colonial Pipeline, the major conduit for refined fuels from the Gulf to East coasts, for quickly expanding its capacity to meet the region's needs.

"Six months ago, experts said gasoline prices could hit $5 a gallon this summer," John Felmy, chief economist at the American Petroleum Institute, said. "They've stopped making those predictions."

WILLOWTOWN MEETING TO FOCUS ON PROPOSED FIELDHOUSE

The proposed construction of a public multi-purpose athletic and recreation center along Furman Street just north of Joralemon in Brooklyn Bridge Park to be called The Fieldhouse will be the subject of a special community meeting sponsored by the Willowtown Association on Wednesday evening, June 27, at 7:30 at the Alfred T. White Center on Willow Place.

Construction of the center will realize a feature of the park that to date was not possible because of financial restraints. Its estimated cost, $40 million, will be underwritten by Joshua P. Rechnitz, a Manhattan philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of the nonprofit corporation, The New York City Fieldhouse, dedicated to ?promoting healthy and sustainable living in our communities through recreational and competitive sports with an emphasis on competitive track cycling.? The donation is one of the largest ever made to a New York City park. Mr. Rechnitz will also underwrite any shortfalls in operating revenue incurred by the center for the first 10 years.

Speakers at the June 27 presentation will include Greg Brooks, newly named executive director of The New York City Fieldhouse Inc., and representatives of the donor and the architectural firm retained to design the center, Thomas Phifer and Partners.

The outmoded one-story warehouse building on the site of the proposed center was to remain as a storage and maintenance facility for the park. The Fieldhouse is to include space for these purposes along with a public boathouse and restrooms.

In '86 exercise, nuclear device 'destroyed' downtown Indianapolis

We've seen them in the movies, but now we can read the real-life history of America's nuclear warriors, the Nuclear Emergency Search Team, known as NEST. The story of NEST, which would protect the U.S. in the case of an attempt at nuclear extortion or terrorism, is told in declassified documents published Tuesday.

The 69 documents, released under the federal Freedom of Information Act, were published by the National Security Archive, a respected research organization at George Washington University. (More about the National Security Archive.)

They tell the story of MIGHTY DERRINGER, a training exercise in 1986 in which NEST attempted to find a nuclear device smuggled into Indianapolis. In the training scenario, the device was detonated, destroying 20 blocks of downtown Indianapolis.?

The archive said the documents "offer the first detailed public look at the inner workings of the agencies, military units and other U.S. entities responsible for protecting the country from a terrorist nuclear attack."

And they reveal problems that can arise in coordinating the many organizations that would respond to such an attack: problems of bomb detection, interagency coordination, containment of contamination and general "confusion."?

"While the MIGHTY DERRINGER exercise and resulting documents are over two decades old," the archive said, "the institutions participating in the exercise retain their roles today, and the issues confronting them in 1986 are similar to the ones that they would face in responding to a nuclear threat in 2012 (and beyond)."

?You can read all 69 documents at this page from the National Security Archive.
