Presents $200,692 to Miller Children?s Hospital Long BeachRepresentatives from Kohl?s Department Stores and Kohl?s injury prevention team members will all be on hand to present Miller Children?s Hospital Long Beach with $200,692 to continue the Kohl?s Keeping Kids Safe Program at Miller Children?s Hospital Long Beach. The Kohl?s Keeping Kids Safe Program was established to expand the childhood safety programs of Miller Children?s further into the community and help to educate and keep kids safe.

Since 2010, Kohl?s has donated more than $600,000 to Miller Children?s. This year?s grant will help sustain the Kohl?s Keeping Kids Safe Program, a safety initiative emphasizing injury prevention and expanding childhood safety programs in the local communities of Long Beach, South Bay and North Orange County.

?We are so thankful for the generous support from Kohl?s Department Stores. This donation will help to purchase car seats and helmets for our patients and families,? says Danny Luna, injury prevention coordinator, Miller Children?s Hospital Long Beach.

The presentation of the Kohl?s donation will kick-off the inaugural iWalk?for Kids on Sunday, Oct. 14, with local community, friends and family to support the critical programs, services and research initiatives of Miller Children?s. There is no more fitting announcement of this safety program development than a walk designed in the spirit of prevention, wellness and keeping kids out of the hospital.

?The expansion and advancement of critical programs and treatments depend upon events like iWalk?for Kids that give Miller Children?s the funding and ability to provide life-saving care to our pediatric patients,? says Suzie Reinsvold, Chief Operating Officer, Miller Children?s Hospital Long Beach.

To improve the care and diagnosis of the infants, children, teens and expectant mothers of Miller Children?s, donations made through this first-time philanthropic event will directly benefit these dedicated programs. iWalk participants are encouraged to form teams, actively fundraise and select the department to which their hard work will contribute.

The departments of Miller Children?s benefitting from this show of community support include the Center for Women, KidsCare ? providing unrestricted funds to meet the greatest needs at Miller Children?s ? Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Jonathan Jaques Children?s Cancer Center, Pediatric Cardiology Program, Outpatient Specialty, General Pediatrics, Palliative Care ? health care focusing on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients ? and Pediatric Surgery.

Check-in booths open at 8:30 a.m. in the Queen Mary Event Park. During the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Kohl?s representatives will present a check of $200,692 to Miller Children?s. The scenic community walk will begin at the Harry Bridges Memorial Park at 9:45 a.m., circle over the Queensway Bridge and the Shoreline Aquatic Park. iWalk will be followed with a Family FunFest, stocked with live entertainment, kid?s activities and carnival booths for children of all ages. Highlights of the FunFest will be the ?Doctor Dunk Tank,? where children can dunk their own physicians, the nurse?s face painting station and the Mercy Air Helicopter landing.
