District 58?s Grove Children?s Preschool program is offering a new Parent Education Workshop series this school year.
Each workshop will include time for coffee and conversation with other Grove Children?s Preschool parents, as well as a short presentation. Topics will be decided based on parents? areas of interest as indicated on a survey sent home by the preschool.
?We will also try to incorporate professionals in the community to come and speak about different topics, as well,? said Parent Program Facilitator Sandra Biddenstadt.
The first workshop, held Sept. 26 at Indian Trail School, featured a presentation on the benefits of routines, schedules and visuals for all children to follow. Each family had the opportunity to make picture schedules to bring home and begin using right away with their child. Schedule topics available included morning and evening routines and daily activities.
Parent workshops are scheduled for the following Mondays during the 2011-12 school year; all will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. unless otherwise announced:

Childcare is provided for children ages 2 to 6 years. All families are welcome to attend workshops at both schools regardless of their child?s program location.
District 58?s Grove Children?s Preschool is a blended program, meaning that tuition students, students identified as having special education needs, and at-risk students are taught in the same classroom. The goal of the Grove Children?s Preschool program is to meet the developmental and individual needs of all children in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, while promoting educational success through engaging and collaborative learning experiences.
